2012 Careers-Related Survey Results

Survey Overview

Randomly selected individuals from Georgia Adamson's LinkedIn network and the ezine list for A Successful Career were asked to participate in a short survey in January 2012. The overall response rate was approximately 15%, which is considered good. The survey contained 7 questions.

Survey Questions and Brief Response Indications

1. Do you follow any blogs that you find helpful in doing your job well or supporting your career advancement? Response: 13.9% said yes.
2. What kind of information and features do you look for in the publications you subscribe to and read for business or career management purposes (online or offline)? Response: 71.4% selected tips and techniques that could help enhance their value to potential employers; 68.8% selected trends and/or new developments, either in their career field/industry or outside it.
3. What issues do you believe are likely to present the greatest challenge to employed and/or unemployed job seekers in 2012? Response: 58.1% selected the poor economy; 70.1% selected hiring limited by corporate uncertaity.
4. Please indicate the level of your current or most recent position. Response: 58.4% selected Director; 16.7% selected C-level and/or President; 16.7% selected Non-Management.
5. Which career-related online sites do you belong to? Response: 100% selected LinkedIn; 11.5% selected Execunet.
6. Do you use Twitter? Response: 22.3% said yes; the remainder said no.

The 7th question had to do with what A Successful Career could do, do more of or do better to serve clients in the future. Those responses will be considered during planning and management of business activities during 2012.
